Our goal is to raise the awareness of the Franklinton Center at Bricks. It is a historic campus with a rich history and is known for its transformative legacy and healing power. In the early 1800s . it was a slave plantation but later the entire 1100 acres were deeded to The American Missionary Association and the plantation transformed. Mrs. Julia Bricks, The philanthropist also gave monies to build a school and college- The theological and Literary College. and the Joseph Keasy Bricks High School. The school later served students in the tri-county area: Halifax, Edgecombe and Nash. We encourage your visits and make it a part of the heritage and legacy it has.
The existing 250 acres still have a couple of the historic buildings. The Inborden House is the house where the Principal Inborden lived. A two story dormitory still stands and is used as a hospitality house. It sleeps 70 and has the community baths. Three years ago, a motel was built. It sleeps 22. The campus serves as a retreat faciility and conference center. Regional and national groups come often.
